I enjoy helping students discover joy in learning math. I realize that math is intimidating to many students because of the complexity of the problems, or their inability to connect the concept to a real world meaning. That, however, is something I like to do. I help students understand why an answer is correct, rather than just helping them reach the answer. As the math problems are dissected, and students are able to grasp the individual concepts as they put it back together, the level of understanding improves dramatically. As understanding improves, application becomes possible. This is one reason I spend less time on rote memorization, and spend more time on learning how the connections work. My students have realized an exciting level of success as they have used the methods which I have shared with them.
